Conor Oberst, the shaky voice and passioante lyricist behind indie-folk band, Bright Eyes, will reunite with his old Nebraskan punk band, Desaparecidos, to release a new project.

Thirteen years after their debut LP, the band will reunite for a second studio album, Payola. The 2002 Read Music/Speak Spanish album gained a huge following and the Omaha group started making an impact in the music industry and touring with bands like Jimmy Eat World. Simultaneaously, Bright Eyes was growing incresingly popular, leaving Conor Oberst with a choice to make -- remove his focus from Desaparecidos or "disappeared ones" as translated in Spanish -- or leave Bright Eyes behind. Desaparecidos never officially split, but members Denver Dalley, Ian McElroy and Landon Hedges went their separate ways and continued on with side projects.

Payola will see its official release on June 23rd via Epitaph Records, straying from its original Omaha label, Saddle Creek.

The band reunited once at the Concert for Equality in 2010 and two years after, made a website announcemount stating they'd regroup for Omaha's MAHA fest, reports Rolling Stone. They followed up with a quick summer tour, releasing "MariKKKopa," "Backsell," "Anonymous," "The Left is Right." "The Underground Man," and "The Amo Camila" off of Payola.

The album delves into political stances and raw, angrier sounds, exceedingly dissimilar to Oberst's Bright Eyes. The third track featuring Cursive's Tim Kasher, "City on the Hill," is currently streaming while the album is available for pre-order online.

Co-produced by Mike Mogis, Payola also features the talents of Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace and The So So Glos. As stated by Pitchfork, Desaparecidos will soon play the big stage at Coachella and join Brand New for a few show dates.
