It's been nine years since JoJo released a new song since her hit "Too Little Too Late" in 2006. Now at 24, the singer has stepped back into the spotlight to release her new track, "Far From Heaven".

JoJo was just 13 years old when she released single "Leave" in 2004. In 2012, the singer released mixtape Agápe including song "Andre". In an interview with Complex, JoJo shared her inspiration for the mixtape.

"Just as we're all doing in our early twenties, trying to find ourselves, that's where I'm at," she told Complex. "Just ingesting and digesting as much music as possible. Experiencing things, writing through it. On this mixtape, my friends, The Backpack Kids, who I did this with gave me a safe place to be myself. There was no expectations. We just went in and did it because we love music. And we just love everything about it, so that's why I call it a labor of love."

The Boston native also dished on why André 3000 was her inspiration for track "Andre".

"It's not a creepy ode to being obsessed with him, FYI, but it's just what he represents is what totally I find attractive in a man; someone who's an individual, someone who's themselves unapologetically. I just think that's such a turn on."

As far as her more recent music, JoJo told Rap-Up last May that she's hoping her next album touches a wide range of people.

"It's just been so long since I've released an album that really what I wanna bring is just quality," JoJo told Rap-Up. "I wanna bring big songs. I want them to touch a wide range of people and I really want it to represent my very best work. I'm really not thinking about what other people are doing. I'm thinking about representing my personal best, delivering powerful vocals, and being honest and as raw as possible."

"Far From Heaven" is currently not listed on the singer's official Soundcloud. Until then, take a trip down memory lane to JoJo's "Baby It's You" via Youtube.
