For Dawes, sometimes "Things Happen," and last night (April 22) that thing was a performance on one of the final episodes of The Late Show with David Letterman. Ahead of its new album All Your Favorite Bands, the Los Angeles rockers took the stage on CBS to play for Letterman, who had only glowing things to say.

"Let me tell you a little something about Dawes, if you're looking for a rock 'n' roll band, this is all you need," the talk show host said about Dawes before they took the stage. In a riff with Paul Shaffer, Letterman gushed about the four-piece, saying they're rootsy and play just as hard as the work.

After all of the promotion, Dawes took the stage with its new single and lived up to the hype, giving a dripping, California rock influenced performance that made Letterman want to join the band post-Late Show.

Dawes' new album All Your Favorite Bands will be released on June 2.
