To Pimp a Butterfly rapper Kendrick Lamar had a very important job last night, April 27. The rapper was given the job of throwing out the opening game pitch for the L.A Dodgers at the Dodger Stadium.

In a competitive match involving the Dodgers against their rival team, the San Francisco Giants, Lamar kicked off the game with his pitch while "King Kunta" played in the background.

It was announced earlier this month that Lamar would throw out the first pitch for the Dodgers. In a video shared by the L.A Dodgers' Twitter account, Lamar can be seen throwing the first pitch while his conscious track played in the background.

Lamar threw the pitch and apparently, didn't do too bad either. The commentator credited Lamar in the background adding, "nice form, nice pitch".

As recorded on the Dodgers website, the L.A team and guest pitcher Lamar, came out as the winners at the conclusion of the game. The Dodgers ended with eight points and the Giants finished up with three.

Lamar released To Pimp A Butterfly on March 15, ahead of the album's expected release. The unapologetic, heavy, and conscious album reveals to fans, a lot of what is on the rapper's mind.

In an interview with Erykah Badu with Interview Magazine, Lamar opened up about his purpose in creating music and how his career has impacted his family.

"I always thought money was something just to make me happy," Lamar told Badu. "But I've learned that I feel better being able to help my folks, 'cause we never had nothing. So just to see them excited about my career is more of a blessing than me actually having it for myself. My folks ain't graduated from high school or nothing like that, so we always had to struggle in the family-and I come from a big family. But as far as me handling this, it's a weird feeling because it's like a blur right now..."
