Kehlani has been teasing her new project You Should Be Here for some time now and fans can finally here it in its entirety. The album features BJ The Chicago Kid and Chance The Rapper.

The Oakland-based songstress has previously released tracks including "How That Taste," "Down For U" featuring BJ The Chicago Kid, "Jealous" alongside Lexii Alijai and "The Way" with Chance The Rapper.

During an interview with FADER, Kehlani opened up about her style of music and how it fits in with the current trends of the industry.

"There's nobody doing what I'm doing," she said. "Yeah, there's R&B singer girls, but they're not making sh*t that's quality. Everybody wants to get on the radio, everybody wants this poppin' single, everybody wants to get drunk in the club. Nobody's making anything that's quality, that actually has something to say. My lane is wide the f*ck open, I'm going to take full force."

A little over a year ago, Kehlani began gaining traction following the release of her Cloud 19 mixtape.

Complex listed the project as No. 28 on its "50 Best Albums of 2014" list.

She takes the listener through a variety of spaces on the project, from the sultry standout cut "1st Position" to the poppy and fun "FWU," firmly establishing her style and attitude in each melodic chorus. Its the most impressive asset of the debut; the songs don't sound processed or forced, which give the newcomer breathing room to set her own pace. The production doesn't stay stuck either, with tracks produced from group of producers that includes Swagg R'Celious and Nate Fox, ensuring that Kehlani doesn't stay trapped in a box, musically.
