The Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck debuted on HBO last night (May 4), but the film's director Brett Morgen will not be hearing any of your conspiracy theories. In a new interview, the filmmaker revealed that people who believe the Nirvana frontman was murdered (likely at the command of his wife, Courtney Love) had already made up theories about the new movie before even watching it.

Morgen quickly dismissed the Love murder believers to The Pulse of Radio (via Blabbermouth) by likening them to "Holocaust deniers," revealing that Montage of Heck doesn't even cover the last month of the troubled rock star's life.

"Prior to anyone seeing this film, the 'Holocaust deniers,' as I like to refer to them, started writing conspiracy theories about my movie," Morgen said. "Now this is before anyone's seen a frame. These are people who supposedly like Kurt, I would think, and here's a movie I'm making in which we're gonna share with the world all this material about Kurt, and in fact we're not even going into the last month of his life. And so why would they then start writing conspiracy theories about my movie?"

Further, Morgen seemed to dismiss the idea that Cobain's death was anything but suicide by adding: "And that tells you everything you need to know."

Montage of Heck debuted on HBO last night. The documentary pieced together previously unseen footage from Cobain's life to piece together a portrait of the rock star.

An accompanying album with unreleased Cobain music is due for release later this year.
