Alex Kapranos, frontman for Franz Ferdinand, has now apologized on Twitter for accusing Pharell of stealing a riff from one of his songs. Apparently he did not expect the backlash that came from his original tweet.

On Friday Kapranos tweeted, "Hey @Pharrell - I love your tunes. If you want to borrow a riff, just ask..." and he included a link to British pop singer Paloma Faith's song "Can't Rely On You," which was produced by Pharrell. He didn't specify which Franz Ferdinand song he was calling him out on, but it can be assumed that it was "Take Me Out."

After the tweet apparently rubbed some people the wrong way, he followed up on Monday with, "@Pharrell Sometimes I forget how easily things can get exaggerated on here," wrote Kapranos. "I know you didn't borrow any riffs. Sorry for all the press BS."

As of now, at least publicly, it doesn't appear that Pharrell has responded to the situation or the apology. He's been a busy guy though. He recently performed "Get Lucky" at the Grammys with Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder and Nile Rogers. He will also be recording his first solo album since 2006 this year and heading out for five shows alongside Bruno Mars and Aloe Blacc.

Pharrell has also been nominated for Best Original Song Oscar for "Happy" from the film Despicable Me 2 and is currently working on the score for Spider-Man 2 in collaboration with Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr.

Chances are the whole tweet incident wasn't that big of a deal for the producer.
