With an array of music documentaries on the rise, The Lonely Island decided to jump on the bandwagon with a spoof mockumentary. The comedic trio of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer will star in the film produced by Judd Apatow and co-directed by Taccone and Schaffer.

The mockumentary began shooting this week in Los Angeles and will follow the story of an aspiring rapper who can't seem to grasp fame or fortune. He's left no choice other than to return to his boy band, making references to recent musical documentaries like Katy Perry's Part of Me and Justin Bieber's Never Say Never, notes the Hollywood Reporter. The movie poster which refers to the film as The Lonely Island Presents: Top Secret Untitled Lonely Island Movie, displays the trio dressed in bright white outfits, drinks in hand while sprawled out in a limosine. In other casting news, Sarah Silverman will take on the role of the rapper's publicist--it's unknown if the film will rack up celebrity cameos from The Lonley Island's 2013 LP, The Wack Album. The hilarious threesome gained fame and filmmaking experience on Saturday Night Live with their creative digital shorts. Schaffer has experienced his hand in directing before, having directed Samberg and Taccone in 2007's Hot Rod.

The group also made a deal with FOX as of late, to create comedy programs for sigital platforms, notes Rolling Stone. Apatow has continued exploring his filmmaking talents with his latest film Trainwreck, to release in July starring Amy Schumer.
