It has come to surface that pop star/actress Selena Gomez spent the month of January in rehab. After suddenly cancelling the Australian and Asian legs of her massive Stars Dance Tour for "personal reasons" in December, she went to Arizona for a two-week rehabilitation treatment for emotional issues.

According to Radar Online, who uncovered the story, the 21-year-old spent Jan. 5 to Jan. 19 at The Meadows in Wickenburg, Ariz., a center that treats addiction and psychological trauma, according to its website.

The rehab stint now explains Gomez's apple cider New Year's Eve toast and total absence from social media in the middle of last month.

Though The Meadows does treat addiction, Gomez's camp was adamant she was not in rehab for substance abuse troubles, but for exhaustion and emotional issues (likely due to her heartbreaking split from fellow pop star Justin Bieber).

Though Gomez denies substance abuse problems, her emotional issues drove her to smoke pot, drink and use prescription drugs with some regularity, according to Radar Online. She reportedly had been experimenting with Xanax and Ambien.

Gomez herself has yet to comment on her stint in rehab.
