Killer Mike of the Run The Jewels is in the prime of his musical career, but he is not stopping his quest to become as influential as possible. The "Close Your Eyes" rapper has been a very vocal activist against police brutality and inequality in the justice system and now wants to put his money where his mouth is and enact change with his pen. There is going to be a special election in Atlanta, Georgia's District 55 for state representative after Tyrone Brooks vacated his seat amid an investigation into his work with charities and Killer Mike will be running as a write-in candidate.

Killer Mike made the announcement today on Instagram and Twitter, letting his Atlanta fans know to vote for him tomorrow in the special election. If you are in the Atlanta area and would like to vote for the Run The Jewels rapper, make sure you write in his real name Michael Render as he faces off against seven other candidates running for the seat, with six of them being Democrats. Killer Mike refuses to align himself with a party, running as an independent instead.

The reason for the election is because Brooks plead guilty to one count of tax fraud and no contest to five counts of wire and mail fraud from using contributions meant for charities he was tied to for his personal expenses.
