Earlier today (July 21), indie folk legend Sufjan Stevens revealed plans for a fall U.S. tour in support of his recent studio album Carrie & Lowell. Currently finishing up the first leg of his current string of tour dates, Stevens' discography is as impressive as his on stage performance. Prone to sell out venues within hours, his live act is just as prolific as his lyricism. As Pitchfork puts it, he merges "his own life history with fantastical images and stories," and is "inventing a new sort of 21st-century folklore."

For fans and newcomers alike, with memorable cuts like "Romulus," "Jason" and "Drawn To The Blood," it isn't difficult to understand why Stevens' work has been consistently applauded since his 1999 debut LP.

Listed as one of The A.V. Club's "Best Records of 2015 So Far" his seventh full-length, Carrie & Lowell, is "filled with colors, hearts, trees, conclusions, and beginnings" according to award winning author Hilton Als. Filled with crisp chords via banjo, memorable lines and lush imagery, Carrie & Lowell is vibrant from beginning to end. Each track is transcendent, offering listeners a nearly tangible catharsis by way of melody and effective diction. As The A.V. club suggests, the price of tickets to his forthcoming tour are "well worth whatever they cost."
