It's seems like just yesterday the world was blown away by the larger-than-life dinos and Chris Pratt's control over them in the Jurassic World official trailer. Now, the follow-up film's release date has just been announced for 2018.

On Thursday (July 23), Universal Pictures revealed that a sequel to the record breaking predecessor film will arrive in theaters on June 22, 2018. Co-writers Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow will pen the latest film though Universal has yet to announce a director. "Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie," Trevorrow said prior to the Jurassic World release when asked if he'd remain behind the camera for the next installment, reports Entertainment Weekly. "I would be involved in some way, but not as director."

Alongside Trevorrow and Connolly, Park and Recreation's Chris Pratt and The Help's Bryce Dallas Howard will reappear to reprise their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing — hopefully Dearing leaves the high heels behind next time. Pratt already celebrated his continued association with the summer blockbuster: "They have me for, I think, 38 movies or something," Pratt joked to EW. The 36-year-old actor stopped by The Ellen Show prior to the film's theatrical release to face-off on dino trivia with the ginger-haired "apparently kid," Noah Ritter.

Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg will work side by side as executive producers on the sequel with Frank Marshall along for the ride as producer. According to Variety, Jurassic World managed to grab the spot for third-highest grossing movie of all time with $1.522 billion, trailing Avatar in second place and Titanic firmly leading the pack.
