Alicia Keys is back releasing new music. Today (July 31), the R&B singer released her first single since Girl on Fire, the inspirational lifetime countdown "28 Thousand Days."

"28 Thousand Days" takes Keys' signature style, with a pounding piano as the featured instrument. However, this song brings in modern, bass-heavy production and blasting trumpets to give off some extra attitude.

Against the funky and fresh music, Keys sings about taking advantage of your life while you're around - because days are limited.

"If you had 28 thousand days / Who would you love? Where would you go? / What would you celebrate? / I'm telling you that life's too short to just throw it away / So have the time of your life, so have the time of your life / Hey, ey, ey," Keys sings in the trumpet and piano powered chorus.

For those who aren't so comfortable at math, 28,000 days equals a little over 76 and a half years, what amounts to the average lifespan.

We see what you did there, Alicia!

"28 Thousand Days" is presumably the lead single from Keys' new album, which the R&B singer has been in the studio working on. Keys' last studio album Girl On Fire was released in 2012 and spawned the singles "Girl on Fire," "Brand New Me," "New Day," "Fire We Make" and "Tears Always Win." A release date for Keys' planned sixth studio effort is yet to be announced.
