There are few producers in the world right now hotter than Kygo, so it is no surprise that he would have been coveted by Apple Music to help launch the platform. He has been part of their marketing campaign since the June launch and has started to premiere some new remixes through the platform. His latest project with them is a new remix of the 1980s classic "Take On Me" by Norwegian band a-ha.

20 years ago, "Take On Me" ruled the world, racking up six awards at the MTV Music Video Awards and was nominated at the AMAs. It has been a seminal pop culture reference from the 1980s, being used in shows like South Park, The Simpsons and Family Guy even to this day.

The music video set a trend with its drawn animation of a touching love story interpolated over cuts of the band performing the track.

Now Kygo has been given license 20 years later to rework the classic from his fellow countryman and update it to a 2015 rendition. Available exclusively on Apple Music, Kygo brings some of his finest tropical vibes yet, adding soft and easy-going percussion, chopping up the vocals and adding his own island melodies and flutes into the mix.

Kygo expressed his excitement to have this opportunity, "Super excited this song is coming out. It is amazing to work with another Norwegian artist on one of the most legendary songs ever."

Stream the remix on Apple Music here and compare it to the original below. No word on when it might be released for purchase or another streaming service, but stay tuned for that.
