Apple Music at last pulled back the curtains and unveiled the product that everyone expects to try and compete with the current streaming giants like Pandora and Spotify. The reaction has been mixed so far, with complications regarding compatibility with iTunes and the use of mp3s. Apple Music has partnered with some of the biggest artists in music like The Weeknd, Pharrell and Puff Daddy to help present and support the platform, but they have turned to a trendy new artist who has made his living with streaming — Kygo. The partnership, which includes the producer splashed across the Apple Music homepage, will also premiere a new remix for the classic hit "Take On Me" from fellow Norwegian act a-Ha.

The move to work with Kygo was an obvious one for Apple.

"My excitement to work with Kygo on this idea was abundantly clear to anyone who was within five feet of me these past few weeks — I couldn't stop talking about it," says Larry Jackson, Apple Music head of content, via Billboard. "More than being a great DJ and producer, this guy is an impressive musician, and a lot of people are just discovering that."

Kygo's career has been grounded in the success he has had on Soundcloud and then later on Spotify. His remixes on SoundCloud have racked up tens of millions of plays and "Firestone" has 212 million streams.

"I've really enjoyed working together with Apple to help launch their new streaming service," says Kygo. "It is really cool to see Apple getting involved. They are always on top of what’s cool and new. Apple has always done things in an innovative way and we are excited they are behind this."

The rework of "Take On Me" will become available for streaming soon on Apple Music. There is no word on how exclusive this partnership will be but watch to see where Kygo's music ends up in the near future.
