The Libertines have been buzzing a lot in the rock music world lately and the release of new song "Heart Of The Matter" ahead of new album Anthem For Doomed Youth is the cincher. New singles "Gunga Din," "Glasgow Coma Scale Blues" and title track "Anthem For Doomed Youth," have also been receiving decent reviews leading up to the release of their third LP, scheduled to drop this Friday (Sept.11).

This is their first studio album in 11 years, so it is safe to say that the pressure is really on for the on-again, off-again rock group. "Heart Of The Matter" was debuted on Annie Mac's Radio 1 show on Monday (Sept.7) and was available for streaming online soon afterwards. The track is definitely Pete Doherty-heavy, but will make fans nostalgic for Libertine mixtapes of old with all of its stripped down elements.

It remains to be seen if they'll be touring the United States, but The Libertines did schedule five intimate shows for their die-hard fans, at Glasgow 02 Academy (Sept. 6), Nottingham Rock City (Sept. 7), Bristol 02 Academy (Sept. 8), London Electric Ballroom (Sept. 10) and the Manchester Ritz the day of the album's release.

Even with all of this buzz, second frontman Carl Barat told NME that he still "doesn't know" about the future of the band and "wouldn't want to jinx it by making plans."

Each member of the band did express to BBC during the T In The Park festival in July that they're interested in making another record, but Doherty seemed to be the most passionate about the project saying that he'd like to lay down the LP "as soon as possible." The two frontmen are notorious for sparring (to the point of interrupting each other's sentences) so it is understandable that the future of The Libertines is still uncertain.
