It may seem like it was just last year that Bruno Mars took over the Super Bowl halftime show (and that's because it was), but if the NFL has its way, the "Uptown Funk" singer will be returning again for the 2016 edition of the biggest day in sports. According to new reports, Mars has been asked to perform and curate the Super Bowl 50 halftime show.

Billboard reports that a source involved in the Super Bowl 50 halftime show has confirmed that Mars has been asked to return to the halftime show in February 2016. Details surrounding Mars' potential return to the NFL remain scarce, but it seems as though for the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl, the NFL wants to go big. Mars would not only perform but also enlist a slew of celebrity guests to put on an extravaganza halftime show.

It is unconfirmed whether or not Mars will accept the NFL's offer to perform at the Super Bowl just two years after he first took the field alongside The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

It should come as no major surprise that Mars has been asked to come back to the Super Bowl. In 2014, his halftime show was the highest draw in the NFL's history, bringing in 115 million viewers across the United States. During his show, he performed a medley of his smash hits, including "Locked Out of Heaven," "Treasure," "Runaway Baby" and "Just the Way You Are."

Mars held the record until the very next year, when Katy Perry's halftime show topped him with 121 million viewers.
