Remember Jessica Simpson? Viewers suspected that she was drunk on an episode of HSN last night and Nick Lachey was "embarrassed" for her. She had an extremely short but somewhat successful music career, was married to Nick Lachey of forgotten early 2000s boy band 98 Degrees for a hot second and was on an even shorter lived docuseries called Newlyweds that aired on MTV at the beginning of the reality TV series craze on formerly exclusive music channels.
She does however still have a relatively successful line of shoes, clothing and handbags, which probably scored her a gig on the Home Shopping Network yesterday (Sept. 18). The singer turned reality tv star turned handbag designer seemed a bit drunk to viewers, with a undeniably slurred voice, saying that sister Ashley is like, "the best at wearing grey," and cutting off the host mid-sentence.
Simpson dropped by CNBC's Closing Bell last Thursday (Sept. 10) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her fashion line, often found at Marshalls discount stores and Macy's. But she got a little off topic when she took it upon herself to throw stinging comments at her ex-husband in the process when host Kelly Evans asked her to describe her largest financial mistake.
"The biggest money mistakes? I don't know." She told Evans, "For some reason I thought of my first marriage!"
Reportedly, her ex-husband caught yesterdays HSN segment and was embarrassed for her and believes that she will deny reports of being intoxicated on camera, adding that he is happy to be free of the unhealthy relationship. Simpson also had a tumultuous relationship with bad boy John Mayer that kept her in the tabloids a few years back.
This is not the first time that the former singer has come under fire for suspected intoxication on camera. In an interview with Extra last March, the singer was asked how she juggles motherhood and career in fashion and answered with a jumbled, "Even in our collection we do kids... so, dressing my daughter is really fun, so... that inspires me, especially right now."
