This week, Jessica Simpson and her wildly successful clothing and accessories line, valued at over $1 billion, celebrated its 10th anniversary. The 35-year-old singer and fashion entrepreneur sat down for an interview on Thursday with CNBC's Closing Bell where she revealed that marrying ex husband Nick Lachey was the worst financial decision she's ever made.

Host Kelly Evans asked the "Sweetest Sin" singer to name a professional mistake she's made throughout her life, in which Simpson replied with a laugh, "Biggest money mistakes? I don't know. For some reason I thought of my first marriage!"

"That's actually a common answer, believe it or not," Evans replied, notes Entertainment Tonight. It's an appropriate answer, nonetheless, seeing as how divorce is quite expensive. Simpson is now married to former NFL player Eric Johnson but she first tied the knot with the 98 Degrees band member in October of 2002.

Three years later, in November 2005, the two separated and a month later, filed for divorce, ending their union and their celebrated TV series, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, Huffington Post reports. The reality show aired on MTV and chronicled the lives of the power couple, conjuring unforgettable moments such as Simpson's lasik eye surgery and the chicken vs. fish debate Simpson encountered while eating tuna. T-shirts immediately surfaced poking fun at the lapse of judgement.

Simpson and Johnson got engaged in 2010 and sealed the deal in July of 2014. The couple has two children together, 3-year-old daughter Maxwell and 2-year-old son Ace. Lachey, 41, remarried to 34-year-old Vanessa Minnillo in 2011, later having a son Camden and daughter Brooklyn.

Luckily for Simpson, she continued on to make millions after her divorce from Lachey and the worst financial mistake of her life is just a memory of the past.
