Carrie Underwood performed a free, pop-up concert at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta last night (Sept. 18) as part of the CMT Instant Jam series and hinted at plans for a new tour. The series is fan focused and she is the most recent artist to schedule a surprise concert. Clearly, Underwood has been busy, as she only gave birth to her first child seven months ago and has a new album, Storyteller, slated to be released October 23rd.

The show at the Variety Playhouse was open and free to the public, fans were able to wait in line to receive a free wristband for entry. Other country stars who have performed for the CMT Instant Jam series include Kenny Chesney, Florida Georgia Line, Hunter Hayes and Darius Rucker. Her CMT Instant Jam: Carrie Underwood will air (Oct.17) on CMT about a week before Storyteller is released.

When speaking to CMT about her plans she said, "We're working out the details right now - tour routing and figuring out who's going to come out with us and all that stuff. It takes a lot of love and a lot of planning. I feel like within the next couple of months, we should be announcing everything. We'll just put it out there."

The specific details of Underwood's upcoming tour, including dates and which acts will join her on the road, are obviously still being finalized but the estimated launch is early in 2016. Her latest hit, "Smoke Break," written with Chris DeStefano and Hillary Lindsay, has already reached the Top Five. Other upcoming dates for Underwood include the Apple Music Festival in London (Sept. 21) where she will perform at the 168 year old Roundhouse. Her performance is scheduled for day three of the 10 day festival and will be live-streamed by Apple.
