Keith Richards holds a special place in Marc Maron's heart for his lifestyle, his music and his attitude. The WTF podcaster had a chance to talk to The Rolling Stones guitarist in an interview posted Monday that spanned his career in music from early influences to his new solo record Crosseyed Heart.

Maron was noticeably giddy to meet his lifetime hero, the man who influenced him to start smoking and drinking from a young age, just because Richards was so cool with his don't-care attitude.

"There are those of us who idolized the outlaw rock and roll image that he created and upheld," Maron said leading into the interview. "He was rock and roll to me when I was a kid. It wasn't even about the music. It was just Keith. He was a human f--k you."

Maron interviewed President Obama earlier this summer but said his conversation with Richards was even more nerve wrecking, just because he idolizes he rocker so much.

The interview took place in a NPR studio in New York, and in true Richards' fashion, he was smoking in the studio. Maron described a woman coming out of the studio looking frazzled and confused saying that he's smoking in there, but no one is going to stop Richards from smoking.

As a lifetime fan who has read, watched, listened and consumed nearly everything Richards has to offer, the interview takes on some hard-hitting subjects and deep cuts into the Rolling Stones guitarist's career. The two talk everything from early influences such as Chuck Berry and the old-days of when Bill Wyman was still in the band, to his new solo record and recent tours with the Stones.

Richard's solo album Crosseyed Heart is out now for streaming and purchase on his website. Listen to the full interview on the WTFpod website and listen to Richard's album below.
