Young Thug, fresh off the release of Slime Season, and Future, who just dropped a joint album with Drake, What a Time to Be Alive, are arguably two of the most prolific and buzzworthy artists of the year. On the production side, 2015's biggest success story has to be Metro Boomin, also from Atlanta. Metro has had the privilege of working extensively with both Thug and Future, and he says the two rappers are similar in their levels of talent and creativity.

In a new Pitchfork feature titled "Chaos Theory," which explores Young Thug's continued ability to update his sound without falling back on any recognizable patterns of subject matter or rapping style. The article discusses the Barter 6 rapper with some of Atlanta's top producers, including Metro Boomin, who executive produced Future's DS2 as well as What a Time to Be Alive.

Metro Boomin has also produced extensively for Thug. They've teamed together as Metro Thuggin, releasing Thugger essentials like "The Blanguage" and "Free Gucci." Most recently, Metro produced Slime Season's "Be Me See Me."

"Working with Thug and working with Future feels the same. They don't sound like each other, but their creative process and their level of talent is the same. Anybody who knows both of them would agree," the 22-year-old producer said.

To put it simply, Future's music this year has explored the space between drug-fueled irreverence and post-heartbreak depression, and Thug has exhibited himself as at once a foul-mouthed party animal and a genuine romantic. But few, if any, hip-hop artists have exhibited the kind of depth, and thus unpredictability, of the prolific releases from Thug and Future.
