Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings, is set to drop Nov. 13 with 13 previously unheard Kurt Cobain tracks. The previously unheard home recordings uncovered by Brett Morgen while compiling footage and audio for his critically acclaimed documentary Montage of Heck. Now, we're getting a sneak peek of one of the tracks, a solemn acoustic demo version of Nirvana's "Sappy."

Where the original version of the song was fast, harsh and deeply personal like most Nirvana songs of the time, this Cobain solo demo is eerily sad and haunting.

"And if you say your prayers/ you will make 'em happy," Cobain softly groans in the slightly altered opening lyrics to the song. With just his voice and a thin buzzing guitar noise, he manages to flip the song on its head and expose the real sadness behind the words and tone he felt while writing the song.

This home recording version of "Sappy" was used in the documentary Montage Of Heck, which swept film festivals across the U.S. earlier this year for its dark depiction of Cobain's life, exposing the good and the bad. Morgen was given permission from the family to use 200 hours of recordings from 100 cassettes stored away after the rockstar's death. The tapes contained new songs and early versions of Nirvana tunes as well as ramblings and stories from the tragic figure himself.
