After 10 years of marriage and two children together, actress Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay's Chris Martin, are separating.

Paltrow made the shocking announcement on her lifestyle website, Goop, in a post called "Conscious Uncoupling," which later caused the entire Goop site to crash.

In the post, Paltrow revealed that she and Martin had been spending the last year working on their marriage, "some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible." In the end, they decided to officially separate and co-parent to their two children.

Paltrow and Martin are parents to kids Apple, 9, and Moses, 7. The couple married on Dec. 5, 2003, after meeting backstage at a Coldplay concert in October 2002.

Read the full statement from Paltrow and Martin below, via Goop:

It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.

Love,
Gwyneth & Chris
