Since announcing his intentions to run for president, Kanye West has the political world buzzing. On Saturday (Oct. 10), President Barack Obama addressed the crowd and took the opportunity to give West some advice for 2020 at the Democratic National Committee fundraiser in San Francisco.

Before a crowd of 1,300 supporters, President Obama addressed the rapper's possible run and offered advice for his campaign. The easy going president even threw in a few jokes, which the crowd loved.

“Couldn’t get any stranger, but in case Kanye’s serious about this whole POTUS thing or, as he calls it, Peezy, I do have advice for him,” Obama said. “First of all, you’ve got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show. You’ve got to be cool with that. Second, saying that you have a beautiful dark twisted fantasy? That’s what’s known as off-message in politics. You can’t say something like that. And number three, do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago [with a] funny name?”

West later hit the stage and performed a set of his hits including “Power,” “Black Skinhead” “Only One” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” Tickets for the fundraiser reportedly ranged from $250 to $10,000 per head.

Earlier this month, West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, stopped by Ellen Degeneres’ show and revealed that she didn't know her hubby had interest in putting a bid in. Kardashian said that she was just as surprised as everyone else when West broke the news during his acceptance speech at the VMAs this year.

"He did not,” she said when asked if West mentioned the idea beforehand. “That was news to me. That wasn’t a discussion in our household!” She elaborated saying, "I don’t know if that announcement was planned or if he came up with that idea right then and there.”

Since the announcement, the "All Day" rapper has rallied up support from his musical counterparts as well as those in the political arena. Republican GOP candidate Donald Trump has even commented on the ordeal, saying he hopes to run against West for president in 2020.
