Disney Pixar is exploring diversity in a whole new way by introducing more minority leading characters in their films. Next month, the animation film studio will release its first movie starring an Indian-American family in Sanjay's Super Team. The new film combines superheroes and religion in a way viewers wouldn't ever imagine.

Disney Pixar recently released a 38-second teaser for the upcoming film. The story revolves around Sanjay, a cartoon-obsessed young boy, and his highly religious father. Taking an inside look on inter-generational differences, Disney tells a story about the various ways religion is interpreted and accepted in a family where faith is held to a very high standard.

In the sneak peek, Sanjay's father is seen ringing a bell, symbolizing the beginning of morning prayer. Glued to the television watching his favorite superhero cartoon, the last thing on Sanjay's mind is prayer time.

As his son tries his best to ignore the bell and focus on his favorite show, the two embark on a battle of the remotes by decreasing and increasing the volume. After Sanjay's father turns the TV completely off, his son reluctantly joins him for prayer.

The film holds a special place in director Sanjay Patel's (an animator from The Incredibles and Monster's Inc.) heart. The short was loosely based off his real-life experiences growing up as the son of an Indian immigrant in San Bernardino, California. In June, the Academy International Animated Film Festival debuted the short film in France. In its entirety, the short runs for seven minutes.

This isn't the only mixture of diversity Disney recently added to their collection. Fans will soon be introduced to their first Polynesian princess in the November 2016 film, Moana.

Sanjay's Super Team will screen before the release of Disney Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, which is expected to hit theaters on Nov. 25.
