Adele's new writing buddy, Tobias Jesso Jr. and his live band Duk, continue to make waves as they performed a series of impromptu covers from The Weeknd, Haim, D'Angelo and Keane Saturday Oct. 18 at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C.

The unplanned covers were short but fun as the pianist took on D'Angelo's "Untitled (How Does It Feel)," The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face," Haim's "Forever" and Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know," according to Pitchfork.

His cover off of D'Angelo's massive critically acclaimed album, Voodoo, may have been the song most in Jesso Jr.'s wheelhouse as the soft vocals played into his range and the band played along to the R&B classic.

"Can't Feel My Face" was another strong take on the No. 1 hit song but it sounded more like a Daft Punk song as Duk added in a funk guitar part to the pop tune.

Other covers, like of Haim's "Forever" didn't land as well. Jesso Jr. seemed to struggle with the vocal rhythms on the song and ended up stopping the band mid way through. It was certainly popular with those in the crowd though as a woman yipped and hollered for the Taylor Swift opener's song.

For a bunch of impromptu covers they aren't half bad and it seems like the band and audience enjoyed the attempt. Watch the clips from last night's performance below.

Jesso Jr. has a highly buzzed about album, Goon, which has grabbed the attention of critics and fans alike. One of those fans is Adele, who recruited the young songwriter as a collaborator on her new album, 25. Goon only peaked at No. 96 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, however his work is getting recognition as one of the best albums of 2015.
