Top Dawg Entertainment rapper Jay Rock has released the music video for his 90059 album track "The Ways" featuring Sir. The track is taken from Jay Rock's sophomore album 90059 that featured the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes, SZA, Black Hippy and more.
The new visuals take Jay Rock's viewers into a place that is not unfamiliar for many rap music videos - a strip club. Visuals start pretty standard as Jay Rock walks into the pretty empty strip club, but after he has a few drinks things start to get rowdy. Strippers become more numerous as they start to shake their asses on poles near Jay Rock and things get more physical with the ones and even higher denominations of bills flying around.
The screen ends up quite blurry as Rock gets into a bathroom sexual encounter before he leaves the club in a car driven by somebody else.
Things may not have turned out the way they hoped for Jay Rock and his team with the release of 90059. Despite being praised by critics, it debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 album charts and only moved 18,713 copies in the first week. This may sound bad, but Jay Rock isn't necessarily the type of rapper who will always sell lots of albums to a wider audience.
Though the LP was released on Sept. 18, it was a long and tortured process for the album to finally see the light of day. There were quite a few delays and a lot of vague statements by his camp about when the LP would be released.
Jay Rock will join Kendrick Lamar on his Kuntas Groove Sessions tour in the next month. He will be joined by the Wesley Theory as well for the eight date tour.
