CeeLo Green wants to return to The Voice. After leaving the show in 2013 after its fifth season following felony drugging charges and making highly controversial comments about rape, the "F*ck You" singer is looking to be redeemed in the eyes of the public and come back to the NBC show.

Green spoke to The Associated Press on Wednesday (Oct. 21) ahead of the release of his new album Heart Blanche and said that he wants to "reacquaint with the music community and say, 'I belong to you.'" And part of that plan may include returning to his famous red swivel chair.

"I've talked very possibly about doing The Voice again," Green said. "So I just kind of put that out there, wishful thinking, kind of willing it. Because I would love to do it again."

Green was a coach on The Voice for the show's first three seasons and its fifth season. In the meanwhile, his chair has been filled by Usher for seasons 4 and 6 and Pharrell Williams for the last three cycles.

Green originally left the show in December 2013, announcing that he didn't want to "wear out his welcome," The Hollywood Reporter noted. In a statement at the time, Green expressed his appreciation for the show but admitted he needed to move on with life. "The Voice has been an immensely enjoyable experience for me and I can only hope I have enriched the lives of our viewers, the contestants, and the many friends I made there," he said. "I will always be there in spirit. Meanwhile, NBC and I plan to continue our relationship with several new co-ventures including a new music show, while we also explore our ideas for me to create and host a new show of my own."

However, his development deal for an NBC reality show fell apart after he went on a Twitter rant surrounding his sexual assault case.

Green did return to The Voice for season 8 as a mentor for one episode, alongside other former coaches Gwen Stefani and Usher.
