The Voice season eight will be getting a little bit of a throwback next week when three of the show's former coaches will return to the competition as one-off mentors. Last night (April 21) on air, Carson Daly announced that the show's alumni CeeLo Green, Usher and Gwen Stefani will be back to bring their wisdom to the top eight.

The latest mentors were announced during the top eight results show, with each of the latest coaches announcing who they'll be bringing on. Adam Levine's sole remaining member Joshua Davis will be coached by Usher. The "I Don't Mind" singer was a coach in seasons four and six and even won the competition with soul singer Josh Kaufman.

Pharrell and Christina Aguilera will be sharing season seven coach Stefani, who found minor success on the show with Taylor John Williams and Anita Antoinette. Stefani will actually be returning the mentorship favor to Aguilera, who appeared on season seven to give advice to Stefani's contestants.

Original The Voice coach Green will be helping out the three singers on Blake Shelton's team. Green appeared as a coach on the voice for seasons one through four and six, switching off with Usher (and eventually Pharrell filled that seat after Green exited the show for good). Green made it to the finalists thrice: in season one with Vicci Martinez, Juliet Simms in season two and Nicholas David in season three.

The lone The Voice coaching alum not to return to the show is season four and six's Shakira, who is at home tending to her newborn baby.

The former coaches will return to the show on Monday, April 27.
