Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green dropped his fifth City and Colour studio album, If I Should Go Before You, on Oct. 9. Wandering into previously untouched blues and psychedelic territories as opposed to airy songs of personal confession, the latest album fuses together unexpected genres as it does in the latest album track, "Wasted Love," which recently received an underground music video.

Those unfamiliar with Green probably know him from an assortment of musical endeavors from post-hardcore band Alexisonfire to You & Me, a collaboration with P!nk.

Director X, who's worked with Justin Bieber, Drake, Kanye West and Jay-Z, helmed the "Wasted Love" video after the "Sleeping Sickness" singer scouted him out for the unique mission.

"I've always admired X's videos; for my whole life it seems," Green told Entertainment Weekly. "I never really thought he'd ever want to do something for me, or with me, so it's super cool to have him interested - but also to watch him work, and to see how he puts himself into the process."

The feeling is extremely mutual for Director X, who had nothing but praise for the 35-year-old musician and his powerful following.

"City and Colour is the real deal," he wrote in an e-mail, according to the Alternative Press. "Real musicians, real music, and real fans. I wanted to create a video that people would watch and feel. 'I want to be there': That's what I feel when I watch it."

The video takes viewers through an underground basement party while "The Girl" singer holds a jam session in the hub of meandering bodies alongside band members Jack Lawrence of Dead Weather and The Raconteurs, Matt Kelly, Doug MacGregor and Dante Schwebel of Spanish Gold and collaborator of Dan Auerbach.

"Over the last two years I've had the great pleasure of touring with an unbelievable group of musicians, who I can now safely call some of my best friends," Green wrote on his official website. "If I Should Go Before You is the record I made with those friends. It's not "exclusive" to anyone - Not to Tidal or Apple Music or Spotify or Rdio or anywhere in particular - but you can find it in all those places. It's a collection of 11 songs - the thoughts I had on my mind: a last ditch effort to find something better and leave well enough alone. You can steal it, stream it or even buy it! Just try to enjoy it. I know I do."

If I Should Go Before You, trailing 2013's The Hurry and the Harm and 2011's Little Hell, is currently available for purchase while City and Colour will hit the road in 2016 with some newly announced tour dates.
