Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach's successful side project The Arcs released Yours Dreamily earlier this year and the group isn't stopping with just one album. On Wednesday, the group announced the Inventors series, which will have its first release on Record Store Day's Black Friday event with The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. I, a 6 song disc, featuring Dr. John and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos.

The series is meant to meld the lessons of the past with the future to create new inventive pieces of work, and learn from the lessons rock music's history can give us.

"Sometimes the best way to see into the future is to study the past. In this series we do both, collaborating with folks who have been in the game a long time but instead of rehashing old material, we collaborate on new works, explore new ideas and introduce each other to a different generational perspective," Auerbach said in a statement discussing the Inventors series. "We'll continue in this series to track down our heroes and bug them until they agree to make some noise with us. Hopefully we learn a thing or two. Yours, Dreamily."

Auerbach has worked with Dr. John in the past as the producer of his album Locked Down, so it would only make sense he'd be the one to kick off this series. Auerbach has gained a lot of clout in the past couple years, both for his work in The Black Keys and as a producer for acts such as Lana Del Rey, Ray LaMontagne and is soon to add Cage The Elephant to that list. Who knows what kind of talent he could convince to get in on this cool project.

The six-song record will be released via Nonesuch Records. Check out the full track list below as well as the music video for The Arcs "Outta My Mind."
