The Last Guardian is arguably the most talked about video game of the last ten years, mainly because we've wanted to experience some gameplay ever since it was first announced in 2007. Thankfully, a vague 2016 release date has PlayStation 4 gamers pretty excited for the new year, but we haven't seen any new footage of the game in quite some time. According to Sony, this secrecy is on purpose in order to avoid story spoilers! Read more on this news below.

We got to see some great new footage of the previously cancelled, then brought back to life title at E3 this year, but that was just a brief teaser. It's been months since we've seen any updates on the game, but Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida is saying that this is a good thing.

Speaking with GameSpot recently (via IGN), keeping footage and other information from fans of the game is to preserve the story.

"Development is going well, but because it's about the story, we don't want to show too much," he explained. "We wanted to show that it exists, it works, it runs. It's not like we won't show anything before launch, but I think we will try to limit what we show about the game."

He added some details on what his team has already shown: "What the team did at The Tokyo Game Show was create a gigantic interactive Trico [the game's bird-dog-cat-hybrid creature] projected onto the wall at the Sony booth, and it followed people around. It was great, I wish we had it in Paris."
