Shortly after undergoing major back surgery, Phil Collins announced his certain return to the music world, with most fans rejoicing. However, there are those not thrilled and now a petition has been launched against his musical comeback, demanding “Phil Collins must be stopped.” In response, there is also a newly-launched petition in support of the singer/songwriter's return.

The currently active change.org petition, which already has 4,000+ signatures (just 600 votes shy of its 5,000 goal), pens a mission statement that claims the reason for their desire to stop Collins is that "There is far too much suffering in the world as it is.”

One supporter of the anti-Collins petition comments, “We’ve burned the rainforests, poisoned the oceans, polluted the air, thrown an orbiting ring of debris around the planet, and generated enough landfill to cover entire countries. Time to draw a line in the sand and stop the madness. Collins cannot be permitted to return to work or future generations will NEVER forgive us!!”

Another supporter added, “We stopped King John! We stopped the plague and put out the Great Fire of London! We ridiculed and defeated Hitler and eventually ousted Thatcherl. All these great threats to humanity have been overcome, often at a great cost in inappropriate trousers and ludicrous hair, but through necessity. In this day and age we must take our lessons from history and say ‘NO!' There is no excuse for Phil Collins! We are enlightened and educated and we will not have it! We must rise up and …..”she’s an easy lover, she’ll take a hold on you, believe it.’ No, No, No. The affliction is back. Run. Run while you still can. Save yourselves.”

Unfortunately for Phil Collins fans, the petition in support of the singer's return has only 1,800+ signatures, but is only looking for 2,500 total. Either way, it looks like Collins is making his comeback whether you like it or not. He also mentioned that he might reunite Genesis with Peter Gabriel. Take a listen to his classic track "In The Air Tonight" and make your informed decision!
