In the wake of the 20th anniversary reissue of Jagged Little Pill, singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette has taken to the talk show circuit to sing her hit track, "Ironic," and poke fun at the lyrics alongside Late Late Show host James Corden. The two updated the original 1995 track with a 2015 spin, swapping lyrics of no smoking signs during cigarette breaks for jokes about Facebook, Snapchat and Tinder.

Morissette recently stopped by The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon with "All About That Bass" singer Meghan Trainor for a clucking cover of the JLP hit. For her Late Late Show debut with Corden, the host came out adorned in Morissette-style braids and a red ski cap, most noticeably from the song's music video.

"There's free office cake on the first day of your diet," Corden croons early in the refurbished version of "Ironic." "It's like they announce a new iPhone the day after you buy it." As the cover continues, the duo takes playful shots at one another as they sit on stools side by side while Morissete spews a clever line about the lack of female-led late night hosts.

"It's 10,000 male late-night hosts when all you want is just one woman, seriously," she sings in Corden's direction. "It's like singing the duet of your dreams and then Alanis Morissette is shouting at you," Corden responded to the 41-year-old singer. The song's chorus boasted a tech-savvy update concerning today's society and the obsessive use of social media. "It's like swiping left on your future soul mate / It's like a Snapchat that you wished you had saved / It's a traffic jam when you tried to use Waze," the two sang on the song's newly crafted chorus.

The most puzzling part of the original track and its covers is that there aren't any true ironies. To the excitement of many, the two finally addressed the not-so-ironic lyrics in their Late Late Show duet, E! notes. "It's singing ironic when there are no ironies," the two belted. As the song rounded out, Corden found himself wrapped up in the track's ending of Morissette mumblings becoming so immersed in the music that the "You Oughta Know" singer had to pull him out of it.
