It's been over 10years since renowned rapper Missy Elliott dropped a studio album and three years since she introduced a single to the music industry. 2015, however, marked the year of her return, as she collaborated with Janet Jackson on "BurnItUp!" and made a surprise appearance at the Superbowl Halftime show alongside Katy Perry. Then last week, Elliott made her triumphant return and dropped a new single and music video with Pharrell Williams for "WTF (Where They From)," which Elliott detailed as a painful process.

The "Lose Control" rapper's latest track features The Voice coach, her first since a duo of songs hit iTunes in 2012. In the video, Elliott showcases an over-the-top glass outfit, which she explained as extremely difficult to wear in a new interview.

"We all came up with the glass outfit, which was the hardest thing to wear because it was really cut up glass so I was bleeding and everything!" she explained to ID Magazine. "I was so agitated but I had to get it done. I was bloody and bloodied. There was blood everywhere!"

The "Work It" emcee further revealed that she felt an immense amount of pressure before unveiling her latest music video since she hasn't put forth new material in quite some time.

"I knew that people know me for my videos and so the expectation from those who grew up on my music was high. My goodness. I swear to God, I felt like I sweated out my tracks the night before the video dropped! My weave was messed up waiting for this video to come out," she said.

Her last studio album, The Cookbook, came out in 2005, so it's no surprise fans are eagerly waiting to see Elliott's next move.

Collaborator Pharrell recently divulged what it was like to work with the iconic rapper while making an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "Like we're in the studio, and just the things that she says and thinks about. And like her video concepts. I didn't know that all those video concepts were hers. I'm so proud of her," he said.
