According to new rumors regarding transfers, Chelsea FC is yet another Premier League team to set their sights on Bayern Munich and Germany National Team star Thomas Muller. If Jose Mourinho does want the 26-year-old footballer, it might be good timing considering the controversy around current forward Diego Costa. Will the Blues sack Costa for Muller, or is this just speculation headed into a highly anticipated transfer window?

It won't be as easy as throwing money at Muller though. Manchester United reportedly offered the goal-scorer £75m (around $113m) over the summer and allegedly wants to go after him again once the window opens in 2016. Chelsea is reportedly ready to offer more than United, though.

Former Bayern and Germany midfielder Lothar Matthaus has responded to the transfer rumors, saying that Muller should not move to the Premier League.

"My opinion is that he should definitely stay at Bayern for his lifetime," he told The Mirror. "He started his professional career at Bayern and I think he should end his career here. He does not need any new challenge as he is always playing at the highest level every year at Bayern."

As we previously reported, Muller is open to the move to England's league, which he recently explained is due to money.

"In the end, we should not forget that playing football is our job," he said, according to Telegraph. "So people should accept that wages will always play a role in a player's decision-making. Of course, the wages that are being paid in the Premier League are very tempting. It would be hypocrisy to deny that."

Meanwhile, reports are saying that Chelsea's need for Muller could directly influence the team's decision to sack Diego Costa, who has had a bit of an attitude problem as of recent.
