If you haven't heard of "Hit The Quan" by this point, your either above the age of 17 or aren't active enough on Tumblr or Vine. But that's OK because iLoveMemphis has your back with an instructional video explaining the popular dance and his inspiration for the tune.

In a two-part video series for Rolling Stone, the 22-year-old artist, Richard Colbert, who is better known for his stage name iLoveMemphis, discussed how a "white girl" named Gabrielle inspired the song.

According to Colbert, Gabrielle is a huge Rich Homie Quan fan and since she can't dance, he wanted to create a song that she or anyone could dance to. The two were watching his music video for "Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)" which features some similar dance moves, when iLoveMemphis started dancing and Gabrielle suggested he make a song around it.

"Dancing is just moving to the music, and when I was making it I was making it to where she can do it, that's where I got the concept of 'there's no certain way that you can hit the quan' it's however you wanna do it," iLoveMemphis said in the video interview. "People try to say 'hey you didn't do it right,' or 'hey that's not the way you're suppose to do it,' but dancing is suppose to be fun so I'm taking the negative energy out of it and trying to put the positive energy into dance."

Watch the interview below.

Rolling Stone also had him look at some fan videos of the dance including Kendrick Lamar's take on the dance in his "These Walls" music video and Chris Brown's baby daughter hitting the quan. He graciously thanked all of those artists for sharing his music.

For those still unsure of how to do the dance there's also an instructional video, in which iLoveMemphis breaks everything down step by step.
