American Horror Story, now in it's fifth season, has always been notorious for pushing the limits of creepiness and oddity, however, they were somehow able to wiggle in something completely different and unique into last week's show. In the most recent episode of AHS, main character Matt Bomer (Donovan in the show) was caught dancing to Drake's hit track, "Hotline Bling," for well over 30 seconds, while alone in his 1950s, neon-lit, hotel room.
In accordance with AHS's odditiy, it's presumable that Bomer dancing to "Hotline Bling" falls under this category. But, in an even more ironic twist, Bomer was caught dancing (and stopped), when Lady Gaga walked into the room, seeing as though she's a regular on this season's show too.
This isn't the first time "Hotline Bling" has made it's way into the news for other reasons than the popularity of the track itself, as President Barack Obama sang the song, albeit via a mashup made by the YouTube sensation Baracksdub. The track also received a very funny celebrity remix with Amy Schumer, Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks, Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan and Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, who used his Walter White voice for his rendition of the remix.
Justin Bieber also did an acoustic remix of "Hotline Bling" and the hosts of the TV show, "The Voice," Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton rendered yet another cover of the the track.
With all of "Hotline Bling's" notoriety, it will unfortunately not be up for Grammy nomination come February 2016, due to some miscommunication with Drake's record label, Cash Money Records, who "forgot" to submit it.
As shown by Rolling Stone, and although somewhat out of place, Matt Bomer's dance moves to "Hotline Bling" on AHS are almost too good not to watch, but just wait fo Lady Gaga to come into the scene - then you'll be in for a real treat!
