Scott Weiland's bassist, Tommy Black, has avoided drug charges following the death of his bandmate. He was due to be charged with possession after it was discovered that he was holding a small amount of cocaine and he was arrested by the police. Drugs were reportedly found strewn throughout the tour bus by police officers investigating the death of Weiland, who was found dead on Dec. 3 while on tour with his band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts.

"The narcotics were found in a bunk and obviously with several people residing on a bus, a number of people could have potentially possessed those narcotics, so at the end of the day we decided not to pursue charges against him," Hartley said in a statement in People magazine.

As reported by NME, Weiland's funeral occurred at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Dec. 10 and was attended by some members of Velvet Revolver in addition to Stone Temple Pilots. Weiland was locked in a legal battle over music rights with his former bandmates at the time of his death.

The medical examiner also recently shared a press release with Billboard  on the exact cocktail of drugs that caused Weiland's death, stating that he died from "mixed drug toxicity: cocaine, ethanol and methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA). Other significant conditions are noted as atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, history of asthma and multi-substance dependence. Manner of death is accident."

At the time of his death, Weiland was on tour in Hamel, Minnesota with his band working to promote their album, Blaster, which was released in 2014. The singer had a long documented history of substance abuse and was arrested twice during his career. The first time Weiland was arrested for purchasing crack cocaine in 1995 and was later arrested for driving under the influence in 2007.
