The medical examiner has revealed the exact drug cocktail that killed the former Stone Temple Pilots' frontman, Scott Weiland. The singer, 48, died on Dec. 3 during a tour with his band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, in Minnesota.

In a press release shared with Billboard, the medical examiner stated he died of "mixed drug toxicity: cocaine, ethanol and methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA). Other significant conditions are noted as atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, history of asthma and multi-substance dependence. Manner of death is accident."

When police searched the tour bus last week, they found hard drugs and cocaine in Weiland's personal bedroom. The thorough search revealed drugs strewn throughout the tour bus and police arrested bassist Tommy Black for having cocaine in his possession. At that time, limited information was available about Weiland's death, which was first confirmed in a tweet from Jane's Addiction guitarist, Dave Navarro.

TMZ reported that the band had been scheduled to play a gig in Hamel, Minnesota the night that Weiland was found unresponsive. At that time, Weiland had been performing solo material with Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts. The band was on tour to promote their album Blaster, which was released in 2014.

Weiland had well documented struggles with addiction and was arrested on drug-related charges twice during his career. He was arrested for purchasing crack cocaine in 1995 while still a member of the Stone Temple Pilots. Weiland was brought in a second time in 2007 for driving under the influence. When Weiland died, he was in the midst of a legal battle with STP over music rights, and it remains to be seen how that will be resolved now.
