Fabolous is breaking his Christmas tradition. While he usually drops new music on the holiday, the "Real One" rapper announced that he'd pushed back The Young OG Project 2. The album has received a February release date.

He has decided to delay the album for the sake of getting samples cleared. Fab shared the news during an interview with Hot 97. The seasoned lyricist also dished on his Thanksgiving Day release, Summertime Shootout, and being overlooked in the rap game.

“I was supposed to drop The Young OG Project 2  on Christmas but I needed some more clearance time. My samples weren’t clearing in time,” Fab said. “[Summertime Shootout] performed very well so I wanted to give it some room to breathe. I want to shoot some videos off it. I’m going to push The Young OG Project to February and use the month of January to promote…You don’t really realize how close Thanksgiving and Christmas are until you actually live it.”

Fab started his tradition of gifting fans with new music on Christmas back in 2011. That year, he released There Is No Competition 3: Death Comes in 3’s and followed up with The S.O.U.L. Tape 3 in 2013. Last year, he released the first installment of The Young OG Project.

Earlier this month, Fabolous offered up a behind-the-scenes look at a photo shoot for the upcoming project's album cover.

No word on who to expect on the album feature wise. Last year's project brought about collaborations with the likes of Chris Brown, French Montana, Rich Homie Quan, comedian Kevin Hart and more. His Turkey Day release featured Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj and newcomer Bryson Tiller.

In addition to Summertime Shootout, the New York City rapper dropped Friday Night Freestyles in May.
