On Christmas Day (Dec. 25), Courtney Love penned a heartfelt letter to her late once-husband and Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain, thanking him for their daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, and for being her "greatest true love."

The letter, which was posted to the artist's Instagram account, pays tribute to a memorable time in the artist's life. "That Christmas moment in everyones lives that you never forget," she says. "...the one that makes you feel on top of the world, where the greatest gifts are the loved ones you shared that moment with."

It then sees Love thanking Cobain for giving her their daughter, "the gift that makes life worth living." The photo shared along with the note depicts the then couple holding daughter Frances Bean in a Santa costume, with Love mentioning that she felt "on top of the world" during that time, referring to Cobain as "the greatest true love I've ever experienced in my life."

Love debuted a new single, "Miss Narcissist," back in May, which was followed by a leg of performances opening for Lana Del Rey on her Endless Summer Tour. Del Rey recently elaborated on her experience with touring alongside the rock legend.

Love recently spoke to Humanity about her current struggles as a rock musician. "It's so hard for rock and roll right now — it's so hard," she stated. "I have someone really close to me who is in a rock band and they're excellent — they're the best rock band I've heard in years — and they signed an old-school deal with Interscope. But it's really a struggle and it's a struggle just to be middle class. I'm not talking big houses and art collections. I'm talking about just getting by."

Kurt Cobain's latest documentary, Montage of Heck, aired earlier this year via HBO after a long advertising campaign and is currently available for viewing via HBO Go.
