Last month Music Times reported that producers of the Tupac-inspired musical "Holler If Ya Hear" had found an actor for its lead role and now those planning to see the show can get a preview of what to expect thanks to Entertainment Weekly.

As previously reported, the play is not a biographical tale about the late rapper but rather a draw of thematic material in Pac's music.

The play features adaptations of tracks such as "Dear Mama," "I Get Around" and "Keep Ya Head Up."

In Entertainment Weekly's sneak peek, theater-goers get a snippet of "California Love," "Unconditional Love" and "Holler If Ya Hear Me" as they get recorded for the cast's on-stage adaptations.

The musical was written by Todd Kreidler and will be produced by Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, Eric L. Gold, Chunsoo Shin and Jessica Green.

The plays description reads, "Holler If Ya Hear Me, the world inside Tupac Shakur's music and lyrics, blazes to life in a non-biographical story about friendship, family, revenge, change and hope. Inner city lives struggle for peace against the daily challenges they face in this entertaining and original musical. Through the poetry of one of the 20th century's most influential and culturally prominent voices, we are given a window into realities of the streets still relevant today."

"Holler If Ya Hear Me" will premiere New York City's Palace Theatre May 26 and then will officially open June 19.
