In an announcement that is not particularly surprising, Foo Fighters will be releasing a new album this fall.

According to Consequence Of Sound, the yet to be titled album will fall in line with Dave Grohl's upcoming HBO docuseries.

The show, which like the album has yet to receive a title, will feature Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters traveling to eight different legendary recording studios across the country as they write and record the follow-up to 2011's Wasting Light.

"One song was recorded in each city, every song featuring local legends sitting in, and every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became part of the process," a press release stated.

Foo Fighters have been spotted recording the album in all the major American music capitals: Chicago, Austin, Los Angeles, Nashville, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington DC and New York.

Both the show and the album seem like a logical next music step for Grohl and the Foos. In 2013, Grohl released a documentary Sound City about the legendary California recording studio, which spawned albums such as Fleetwood Mac's Rumors and Nirvana's Nevermind. An album, featuring former Sound City artists and "Sirvana," the Nirvana/Paul McCartney hybrid group, was released shortly after the film.

As for Foo Fighters, the untitled fall 2014 album will be the band's immediate follow-up to 2011's Wasting Light, which spawned the excellent singles "Rope," "Walk" and "These Days."
