On Sunday (Jan. 10), actor Sylvester Stallone won big at the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards for his work in Creed. Many viewers reacted negatively after the actor forgot to thank the star and director of the film in his acceptance speech. Early Tuesday morning (Jan. 12), Stallone took to his Twitter account to apologize to Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler for the mistake.

The 69-year-old actor and producer nabbed a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his reprisal of fictional boxer Rocky Balboa in the 2015 sports drama, Creed. The film was directed and co-written by Coogler, while Jordan played the titular character of Apollo Creed.

Stallone delivered a touching speech as he accepted the award, expressing gratitude to his family, agents, and his Balboa character that helped skyrocket his career.

Due to the significant roles they served in the film, award show viewers were confused and angry that he didn't mention them in his speech. It also, didn't help the situation that both men are Black. Twitter erupted in backlash over Stallone's speech, including a few comments from fellow actor Samuel L. Jackson. Stallone acknowledged Jackson on Twitter and apologized to Jordan and Cooler.

Some fans even took to Twitter to further support his apology, claiming Stallone actually ran back onto the stage to thank the film's cast and crew. Unfortunately, his concluding remarks did not make it to broadcast. Jordan retweeted the statement, possibly hinting that the comment is true.

Despite the minor backlash the father of five received, Stallone praised Coogler's direction of the film, as well as, Jordan's performance all while promoting Creed. In a recent interview with Variety, Stallone excitedly talked about the idea of creating a sequel. Creed grossed more than $105 million at the box office.

"Ryan has some ideas of going forward and backward and actually seeing Rocky and Apollo together," Stallone told Variety. "Think of 'The Godfather 2.' That's what he was thinking of, which was kind of ambitious."

Well, Stallone might get another chance to thank Jordan, Coogler, and the rest of the Creed team as talk of Oscar nominations surround the Hollywood veteran. The official nomination are scheduled to be released on Thursday (Jan. 14).
