It sounds like Manchester United might be distancing themselves from waiting for former member Cristiano Ronaldo to return to the roster, according to new transfer rumors. Colombian superstar footballer and Ronaldo's Real Madrid teammate, James Rodriguez is reportedly the new target of Louis Van Gaal's team, with a big bid already in place to convince the attacking midfielder to come to the Barclays Premier League. We know that Manchester United want Cristiano Ronaldo back on the roster. The footballer himself has mentioned a return sometime in the future, but his current status as one of the best in the world and the star of Real Madrid is enough to keep him loyal to La Liga (via Express).

Rodriguez was unhappy at Real Madrid under manager Rafael Benitez, but the new appointment of Zidane hasn't helped his woes. Alejandro Alcazar of Sport goes as far as to say that Zidane "doesn't even want to see a painting of James Rodriguez."

Zidane recently answered questions about starting Isco instead of Rodriguez in Real's 5 - 1 victory over Sporting.

"We're all in the same boat here. Someone or other is going to play. Isco played today and then James came on for him. It's difficult," he explained, according to Bleacher Report. "The thing I find difficult is naming the team the day before the game, but it's my responsibility. I have to make decisions. Everyone wants to play, but I understand that. What's important is the team, the squad."

According to Metro, United is willing to make a record-breaking bid on the South American national, with the hopes of singing the 24-year-old this month.
