Singer Trisha Yearwood speaks onstage during the 49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 6, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
When Trisha Yearwood graduated from Georgia's Young Harris College with an associate degree in business administration, she never dreamed that she would return one day to receive an honorary Doctorate of Music degree and deliver the commencement speech to the graduating class. But on May 10, that is exactly what happened.

Yearwood (aka Mrs. Garth Brooks) may not have entered the world of business administration after finishing school at Belmont University with a bachelor's degree in business administration, but she's certainly been taking care of business. She's accomplished as a country singer, is a hit on the Food Network with her show, Trisha's Southern Kitchen and has written two cookbooks that have put her on the New York Times Bestsellers list (with a third one one the way).

In her speech to the graduating class of 2014, Trisha quoted Mark Twain, saying, "I never let my schooling interfere with my education." She also told students that they should "claim your own happiness. Don’t wait for someone else to do it for you. Be happy and you will attract happy." Great advice - and she's living proof that it works!
