Diplo's Mad Decent Block Party is going global. The one day showcase of the best that Diplo's label Mad Decent has to offer has grown from a free party on the streets of Philadelphia to an organized, sponsored, ticketed machine that takes over cities all over the United States for the full summer. Now it is heading to India for a quick, three date test run next month, with Major Lazer, Big Gigantic, Giraffage and Gorgon City headlining the tour.
The tour is only three dates, hitting three of the biggest cities in India, Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore on Feb. 19, Feb. 20 and Feb. 21 respectively.
The full lineup hasn't been announced yet, but with only one month to go, expect to see a few more names added to the list of artists joining the tour in India.
Details haven't been revealed about who will be making stops along each date or where the venues are, but all of that will come in the following weeks. Tickets are on sale now here.
The move to India makes sense for Diplo and especially Major Lazer. They filmed their video for "Lean On" in India and the backdrop and Indian-inspired dance moves helped propel the video to its one billion play total on Youtube. They also did a big tour last year and India has been one of the most important emerging markets for electronic music over the past two or three years.
