Just as Kanye West put the word Waves right at the top of the Twitter trending charts and on the edge of everyone's tongue's, Miguel strategically released a remix of his own track titled "Waves" taken from his 2015 album Wildheart by frequent Yeezy collaborator Travi$ Scott.

The new remix flips the instrumental into something you might expect from Scott. The vibe from psychedelic guitar track from Miguel is kept intact, but then Scott adds in steady waves of 808s and snare rolls that rise and crest underneath Miguel's shouts and his guitar licks.

In addition to the new hip-hop-infused instrumental, Scott also threw in a verse of his own, keeping it wet with plenty of allusions of waves, women and even giving a shout to the greatest surfer ever Kelly Slater.

With a strong dose of autotune, Scott raps, "Right now I might pull up on ya' on my surfboard like I'm Kelly Slater / Lavish sh*t that I might forget / I got E-Mails, texts, I ain't read those yet / Replying to all those needs you said / Like moving on, I might feel that way yea / But lately I've been whole / If you catch that wave won't you surf to me yea?"

The remix is the first new piece of music we have heard from Miguel this year after his 2015 album Wildheart. Travi$ Scott has been on a roll in 2016, releasing his dance-leaning, radio-friendly single with DJ Mustard "Whole Lotta Love" and then the long-awaited "Bake Sale" with Wiz Khalifa that will appear on the Pittsburgh rapper's new album Khalifa next Friday.
